Currently the harpist at the Broadway show "Wicked," Laura has performed with the New York City Ballet, American Symphony Orchestra, Greenwich Symphony (CT), the Spoleto Festivals in Charleston, S.C. and Spoleto, Italy, Opera North (N.H.), and the New World Symphony, among others. She also founded Gotham Harp Publishing in 2012.
As a soloist, Laura has performed with the OMNI Ensemble in Brooklyn, Waterbury Symphony (CT), and with the Borromeo String Quartet at the prestigious chamber music series Concerti di Mezzogiorno in Spoleto. She was featured at the American Harp Society's 2012 Conference in New York City, performing and giving a master class on her transcriptions for harp of J.S. Bach’s Lute Suites. Laura also gave a lecture-recital on this topic at the World Harp Congress in Prague, Czech Republic, in 1999 and at the World Harp Congress in Sydney, Australia in the summer of 2014. Her critical performance editions of Bach's music for the harp are available for purchase from Gotham Harp Publishing.
Laura has recorded Morton Feldman’s Coptic Light with Michael Tilson Thomas and the New World Symphony, and is featured on the Grammy award-winning cast recording of Wicked. Laura also performed on Barbra Streisand’s Grammy-nominated recording Live in Concert 2006 and Ms. Streisand’s DVD The Concerts 2009. Laura can also be heard on Jewel's Christmas album, Let it Snow, Steven Soderbergh's movie The Informant!, starring Matt Damon, and on Broadway-star Stephanie J. Block’s solo recording This Place I Know.
Laura has perfomed with Andrea Bocelli and has toured extensively in the U.S. and abroad, with Barbra Streisand, the German orchestra Philharmonia Hungarica, the New York City Opera, and with three Broadway shows.
A passionate lover of opera, Laura has had the pleasure of playing in productions of Lucia di Lammermoor, Tosca, Carmen, Wozzeck, Gotterdammerung, Dialogue of the Carmelites (Poulenc), Curlew River (Britten), Rosenkavalier, Salome, Elektra, Cunning Little Vixen (Janacek,) Tales of Hoffman, The Dwarf (Zemlinsky), La Traviata, The Nose (Shostakovich), The Merry Widow, Hansel and Gretel, Il Trittico (Suor Angelica, Gianni Schicchi, Il Tabarro), Eugene Onegin (Tchaikovsky), Madama Butterfly and Mark Adamo's 1998 opera, Little Women.
A graduate of Queens College (CUNY), Yale, and the University of Michigan, Laura holds four degrees, three in harp performance and one in music theory. She has studied with Lynne Aspnes, Nancy Allen, Gloria Agostini, Susan Jolles, Mary Brigid Roman, and Elisa Dickon.
Gotham Harp Publishing is a harp music publishing company with an historical emphasis, founded by Laura Sherman in 2012.

Available June of 2012 will be a solo harp piece written for harpist Gloria Agostini in December 1980 by Torrie Zito, an American composer, pianist, arranger and conductor. Entitled Concert Etude, it is a virtuosic work that is perfect as a recital opener or encore. With subtle, jazz-influenced harmonies and classic harpistic arpeggiations, its effect is fresh and exciting.
